Clothing Dyes and Upgrade System v1.01
Features:
Dye system:
A (somewhat) immersive system for dyeing clothing – simply purchase the dye, use it, exit your inventory to select an item, then choose your preferred color!
The dye item can be purchased from most tailors and some bathhouse merchants
Currently supports:
– Gambesons
– Caftans
– Tunics
– Coats
– Waffenrocks
– Hoods
– Hose
– Padded hose
– Coifs
– Padded coifs
Does NOT yet support:
– Armor of any kind
– Hats
– Shoes
– Gloves
– Horse tack
– Jewelry

How it works:
The system takes your original item and replaces it with an identical item of a different color variation. Quality and durability of the item is preserved, however any buffs it might have will be gone.
Caveats:
First and foremost, the dye item will only work if you own a horse. Yes, I know it’s stupid, but I couldn’t figure a way around it. The good news is that if you try to use it before you get a horse, the item will not be consumed!
Because not all items of the same set have equal stats, dyeing an item can leave you with a cheaper or more expensive item than the original. Not much I can really do about that.
I excluded all of the PROS items from the mod, and also excluded NPC exclusive swatches (Radzig’s hood, Capon’s gambeson, Bergow’s pants etc) since the player isn’t really intended to get their hands on them. My goal was to keep the mod at least a little bit immersive.
Upgrade system:
Alongside the dyes, this mod also contains an item that lets you upgrade armor to a higher tier!
It works similarly to the dyes – purchase an armor upgrade kit from a blacksmith or an armorer, use it, exit the inventory, select an item, and the kit will consume several regular armorer’s kits to upgrade your item!
The upgrade kit is consumed in the process. The amount of regular armorer’s kits required for an upgrade is the same as the item’s tier:
Tier 1 –> Tier 2 = 1 kit
Tier 2 –> Tier 3 = 2 kits
Tier 3 –> Tier 4 = 3 kits
The armorer’s kits need to be at at least 75% durablility to be valid.
Tier 4 upgrades are only unlocked after reaching craftsmanship level 25

The mod edits Quests\final\Barbora\open_world\sharpening.xml and will conflict with any other mod editing the same file.
What comes next:
I am planning to gradually add armor, shoes and gloves to the mod, as well as the dreaded hats. Possibly also horse tack, further down the line.
This mod has been a pretty big undertaking, so I’d really appreciate if you would report any bugs and issues. Even minor things like typos!
I’d also like to thank the KCD Modding Community discord for help and support!
